Newark Airport Terminal and Pickup Guide for 2026

Newark Airport Terminals at a Glance
Newark Liberty International Airport, identified by the airport code EWR, serves millions of domestic and international travelers through three passenger terminals: A, B and C.
Knowing the correct terminal is essential when arranging an airport pickup or drop-off. Some airlines operate from more than one Newark terminal, and an international arrival may use a different terminal from the original departure.
Terminal A
Newark’s modern Terminal A opened in 2022 and currently serves Air Canada, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue and United Airlines.
Terminal A includes modern passenger facilities, restaurants, shops and airline lounges.
JetBlue generally uses Terminal A for domestic and international departures. However, JetBlue international arrivals may be processed through Terminal B.
United also operates some domestic flights from Terminal A. Passengers should confirm the terminal shown on their boarding pass or airline application before traveling.
Terminal B
Terminal B serves more than 25 domestic and international airlines, including Aer Lingus, Aeromexico, Air France, Air India, Alaska Airlines, British Airways, EgyptAir, Emirates, Ethiopian Airlines, Frontier Airlines, Icelandair, Lufthansa, Porter Airlines, SAS, Singapore Airlines, SWISS, TAP Air Portugal and Turkish Airlines.
Terminal B also processes certain international arrivals for JetBlue and United.
Travelers should provide their driver with the complete flight number because knowing only the airline may not be enough to identify the correct arrival terminal.
Terminal C
Terminal C is operated by United Airlines and handles many of the airline’s domestic and international departures and arrivals.
The terminal offers restaurants, shops, clubs, lounges and passenger services. However, not every United flight uses Terminal C. United also operates from Terminal A, while certain international arrivals are processed through Terminal B.
Passengers should always verify the terminal for the specific flight.
Why Flight Numbers Matter
At Newark, the same airline may use different terminals based on the destination, route and whether the flight is arriving or departing.
When arranging airport transportation, travelers should provide:
The complete flight number
The operating airline
The scheduled arrival time
The confirmed arrival terminal
The passenger’s mobile number
The number of passengers
The amount of luggage
Any child-seat or accessibility requirements
This information helps the transportation provider monitor the flight and prepare the appropriate vehicle.
Meeting Your Professional Driver
Passengers with prearranged car service should collect their luggage and follow airport signs to the designated ground transportation pickup area in their terminal.
To make the pickup easier:
Turn on your phone after landing.
Complete immigration and customs when arriving internationally.
Collect all checked luggage.
Confirm the terminal and pickup instructions with your driver.
Follow current airport signs to the meeting area.
Do not enter a vehicle until you have verified the driver and reservation.
Terminal access and pickup locations may change because of traffic, construction or airport operations. Current airport signs and official instructions should always take priority.
Moving Between Newark’s Terminals
The Newark AirTrain connects passengers with Terminals B and C, parking facilities, hotel-shuttle areas, rental cars and the Newark Liberty International Airport Train Station.
Travel between airport terminals is free.
However, Terminal A is not directly connected to the existing AirTrain station. Passengers traveling to or from Terminal A may need to walk approximately 15 minutes along the covered pedestrian pathway or use the complimentary shuttle, which takes approximately five minutes under normal conditions.
Newark Airport is modernizing the AirTrain system. Temporary disruptions may occur, and replacement shuttle buses are provided when the train is unavailable.
Travelers should allow additional time when changing terminals, particularly when carrying luggage or requesting mobility assistance.
Avoid Unauthorized Transportation Solicitors
Newark Airport warns passengers to be cautious of individuals offering transportation or luggage assistance without authorization.
These individuals may be unlicensed, uninsured or operating illegally.
Travelers should use only:
A prearranged professional car service
An authorized airport taxi
A designated ride-application pickup
An approved shuttle or van service
Official airport transportation assistance
Passengers who need help should visit the Port Authority Information Center on the arrivals level of the terminal.
Important 2026 Flight Advisory
Newark Airport’s Runway 4L–22R continues to undergo periodic nighttime and weekend closures for rehabilitation work.
The airport advises passengers that weather and runway construction could contribute to flight delays, schedule changes or diversions. Travelers should check their flight status with the airline before leaving for the airport.
Five Tips for a Smoother Newark Pickup
1. Confirm the Arrival Terminal
Do not assume the arrival terminal will be the same as the departure terminal.
2. Provide the Operating Airline
Codeshare tickets may display one airline’s name even though another airline operates the flight.
3. Wait Until You Have Collected Your Luggage
Airport curbs are intended for active pickups. Contact your driver when you are nearly ready to leave the terminal.
4. Keep Your Phone Available
Your driver may need to provide updated meeting instructions because of terminal traffic.
5. Reserve the Appropriate Vehicle
A sedan may not accommodate a large family or several oversized bags. Provide accurate passenger and luggage information when booking.
